The performance boundaries have now been extended. Unlike a conventional 12-cylinder engine with two banks of six, the Continental GT's 6-litre engine is configured in four banks of three cylinders in a W formation.The result is a shorter and much more compact unit which allows for significantly more interior space and improved dynamics. But its size is deceptive. Twin turbochargers boost the power output to an astonishing 552bhp (411kW/560PS), however the Continental GT benefits from internal efficiency improvements resulting in a reduction in CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. Its supercar status is reconfirmed by a top speed of 318km/h and a 0-100km/h time of just 4.8 seconds.
