The survey’s main criteria included depreciations, fuel consumption and loan interest charges. Tyres, registration, servicing were also factored into the calculations. The Golf 77TSI came out in front of some small car rivals such as the Hyundai i30, Holden Cruze and Toyota Corolla. As the 2009 World Car of the Year and Australia’s Best Cars winner, the Golf has developed an enviable reputation for delivering outstanding technology, safety and driving enjoyment.

Volkswagen Group Australia’s managing director, Anke Koeckler, was pleased to hear the results of the survey.

“The Golf 77TSI has made entry into the Golf range not only more affordable but very cost effective over the life of the car. We are pleased to see that our products efficiency and affordability is being recognized.

“We know that our customers will like their cars but we want to make sure they continue to appreciate them and benefit from their outstanding efficiency through lower cost of ownership, said Ms Koeckler.
